BC SPCA Offleashed Gala
Animals have positively impacted everyone on our team, and we feel strongly about protecting those beings who give us so much. Sadly, animal welfare needs in British Columbia are on the rise, and the BC SCPCA relies primarily on ongoing community donations to create its safety net. Gregg Baker has sponsored the BC SCPA Offleashed gala since its inception, which will be celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2024. This annual banner fundraiser helps combat animal cruelty and neglect in this province, and every dollar raised fights animal suffering.
We are inspired by the bravery and loyalty shown by animals, even in the face of horrific abuse. We believe that together, with other animal lovers, we can continue to make a difference for those who need it most.
Special Olympics
Our brokerage, Engel & Völkers, is a proud champion of the Special Olympics and specifically focuses on creating more inclusive communities through its Athlete Leadership and Play Unified programs. Athlete Leadership empowers Special Olympics athletes to develop leadership skills and utilize their voices and abilities to undertake meaningful roles in their communities. Play Unified joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team, and was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.
Special Olympics athletes contribute to our story. From them, we learn and realize what we can accomplish as individuals, as local brokerages and together across time zones and borders — it’s a common good that unites us. Every hour given, every dollar donated, every kind word spoken, and every door opened creates opportunities. We believe that to lead, we must empower others to do the same.
YWCA Holiday Hampers
The YWCA provides safe, short-term and transitional housing for women and families in need. This includes second-stage transition houses for women leaving abuse, housing for single women in recovery and their children, and emergency accommodation.
Each year, our team participates in a holiday hamper program for women and children fleeing or recovering from violence at the YWCA Munroe House and the YWCA Eyrie House. This program is lovingly coordinated by the YWCA and helps ensure everyone, regardless of their situation, can experience the hope and joy of the holidays.
Canuck Place Children’s Hospice
Canuck Place is a caring children’s hospice and community-based service that fully embraces the life of each child and family, providing specialized pediatric palliative care to children with life-threatening illnesses and support to families during uncertain times.
Through donations from people from all walks of life, Canuck Place is able to offer family support, respite care, management of pain and symptoms, loving end-of-life care, and grief and bereavement counselling, all at no cost to families.
